Idea Maker was founded on a simple observation: SMBs and startups in California needed high-quality development without the overhead and complexity of large agencies. The founding principle was accountability.
We'd established our reputation in Southern California's startup ecosystem. Our portfolio expanded from local businesses to venture-backed companies requiring sophisticated platforms and AI integration.
While many agencies were still pitching UX Pilot integrations as innovation, we were engineering custom AI solutions for operational intelligence, automation workflows, and predictive systems.
We've delivered across mobile applications, enterprise platforms, and AI implementations. We've partnered with agencies, supported startups through funding rounds, and helped established companies modernize legacy systems.
Idea Maker was founded in 2016 by Dr. Thomas Kwon, an engineer who spent more than a decade pushing the boundaries of semiconductor innovation. A UCLA PhD with multiple patents, Tom learned early what separates great engineering from everything else: precision, ownership, and care for the end result.
Coming from enterprise technology, he saw a problem worth solving. Exceptional talent was trapped inside agency structures that prioritized volume over quality. He built Idea Maker differently, with direct founder involvement, transparent collaboration, and engineering done right the first time.
That philosophy hasn't changed till date. Tom remains hands-on with every project, guiding teams with technical clarity and strategic insight to make sure each build stands on a foundation strong enough to grow.
