The Problem
Our planet is 71% water, yet thousands of people go without fresh water for drinking, cooking, and cleaning every day. The creators of Aquaya needed help with a database development solution to bring new, clean water resources to the people. Communities of volunteers would use this database, scientists, doctors, civil engineers, innovators, and many others to pursue the fundamental human rights to clean fresh water.
The non-profit needed more than just a primary database; they required a full-featured website that could present information to the masses and share resources with other organizations to bring quality water to those who need it most. The website would need to be user-friendly and easy to navigate and collect information from.
The website needed to include details about organizations, resources, and other things that users might need to filter by. Whatever solution they came to, it needed to feature a user-friendly, customized interface for their end-user.
Further, the final product needed to be able to provide education on the issues at hand relating to accessing water and sanitation worldwide. This project meant more than coding and designing a database.
Our Solution
Idea Maker stepped in and provided a solution to their requests. The Idea Maker team collaborated with several people within the Aquaya organization to isolate features deemed “must-haves” and those that were wanted but not required. We worked hard to surpass expectations and bring to the table a better product than the client could have dreamed of.
Idea Maker helped make sharing and analyzing data about water sources and the health of those using them easier to access for many. From the people drinking and using the water every day to the scientists and volunteers looking to clean up those water sources and access safer water supplies.
Database Development Solutions
Having quick access to this kind of information is essential for making life-or-death decisions regarding sanitation and water-related choices for many communities. With the new Aquaya website, the resources of peer-reviewed journals, surveys, summaries, and more are available at the tip of your fingers.
Now, more than ever, having access to sanitary water is vital as we face the global Covid 19 Pandemic. In recent months, the resources provided by Aquaya have benefited less fortunate communities in finding access to water and sanitation services they might not have otherwise been able to find.

What We Did
Integrated Database
Using React to create a user interface to build the database, Idea Maker created an easy-to-use and understood database development solution. Members of the Aquaya staff and the science community can add new information and quickly share the information with innovators of the world.
Refine Search Criteria
Idea Maker made the content even easier to process when it’s accessed by creating the database with the ability to refine the search criteria. Users can search for specific terms or isolated data points in research and add their findings.
Global Reach
It is essential in such a large project to be able to share new information quickly. With the customized database development solutions found by Idea Maker, we could make this information more readily available around the world. With such a global reach, the community can implement innovations and ideas faster than ever before.
